The 1970s were one of the most colourful and contrasting decades of the twentieth century. On the one hand Star Wars were out then, on the other hand there was the cold war and arms race. There was Saturday Night Fever and John Travolta dancing to disco music and the punk rock Sex Pistols. The polish moral anxiety cinema, spindle- shaped Cuban oranges, miniskirts, Mini Morris, pop-art, etc.

Some facts about the 70s
The hippie movement
was a revolution proclaiming the rebellion of the young against the world of adults ("don't believe anyone over 30") and its institutions: family, church, school, work, managers, competition, money, army, war, norms, compulsions, prohibitions, hypocrisy, dress code, private property.

The 70s fashion. The outer sign of being a part of the hippie movement was long hair, naked feet and specific clothes. Single flowers or wreaths of them were often placed in the long hair falling on one's back. Clothes symbolized one's relation to nature and had to be functional flowery loose blouses with wide sleeves. Indian-style ponchos, worn-out bell-bottom jeans, colourful gypsy-style skirts, cheap wooden ornaments with thongs, beads on necks and wrists, bell- shaped ornaments, pacifist signs, scarves and head bands.
